RELEASE OF -> EZRA STYLES => LIVE 1978.

Part #1 of the Story of a fabulous journey and reconnecting with musician band mates.

My journey began in February 2023 by talking to a high school friend Phil if he happened to know where Dave, my old drummer roommate and friend, was living on Long Island. Phil was still friends with Dave’s brother and reached out. Several weeks went by and then one day Phil contacted me with a phone number. It had been over 44 years since I had talked to Dave. Life just got in both of our way. In hindsight we should have kept better in touch with one another. I texted Dave and again several weeks went by then one day I got a response.” Chuck Idol a voice from the past, how are you!!” It was so great to see these words. Always an upbeat guy!! I called and we had a great time talking (as if no time had passed at all) and remembering all the great music and touring stories.

As we talked, I told Dave I had all the tapes from famous Tiki Studios Roslyn NY and all the touring tapes. He asked me to send him some MP3 files. This led me down a great and wonderful journey and labor of love. Pulling out and converting cassette tapes and reel to reel. After he had listened to the tapes he noted –“they were still good” – “still metal” – “still raw”. We were a rock and roll band working out the kinks and fine tuning the show. Within no time a plan was hatched and underway to remaster and release the music.

Its live , its heavy metal, it’s group of very talented of 20-year-olds trying to make it in 1979…( Aerosmith, Zeppelin, Robin Trower, Peter Frampton and more influences.). Driving from town to town to audition for record labels and playing concerts. We played all over New Hampshire, Massachusetts and more to crowds in some cases of 3000.

More music to soon be released soon and more to this story. This song is called “The Force”. This music was written by Chuck Idol (Guitar) and Dave Wilson (Drums) in our apartment on Dover Street at 10am in the morning. The neighbors loved us and used to sit on their porches with coffee to listen.

George Felia soon joined us and was our great (Bass Player) and had a fantastic voice.

Craig Maxner (Guitar) was a great guitarist I would easily swap lead licks and harmonize with. He also owned a music store, so he was a very important part of the band in keeping us up with high-tech equipment. He let me try one of the first eco machines called an ECHO PLEX…

Also, a special shout out to our sound man Phil Beaudoin who was recording all this music. Also, a critical part of the team / band and the reason we have any of these songs. He was an excellent tech making snakes and repairing equipment and so much more.

I hope you enjoy it. Turn it up to 10 it’s meant to be played at 11 but 10 will do. (envision large double Marshal stacks with Les Paul’s and a massive MPEG-SVT with twin 15 inch JBL 5 foot bass cabinets with Dave on a riser…. Yes, smoke machines and lights. Lots of memories and fun.

More to come.

Part #4 of the Story of a fabulous journey and reconnecting with musician band mates.

Practice started 10am sharp in our little apartment. The neighbors never seemed to mind. In fact one day we got a knock on the door and the local bar around the corner asked us if we wanted to rehearse in their basement and become the house band. This was the start of a great relationship and adventure. Many of our original material songs were written in the basement of this pub. We traveled often and far in order to promote our original music. We did some covers but tried to play as much original as possible. It was 1979 Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queen, Robin Trower, Led Zepplin and more were criss crossing the country and we wanted to try and criss cross with them. At each concert we had a recording machine set up. The purpose was to capture live events and send “demo tapes” to A&R agents and other clubs and events. I never destroyed the tapes. After we recently reunited I brushed off this song which was one of our favorites. Crank it up its meant to be played on 11 not 10.

After 44 years I present to you Ezra Styles – “Leave Me Alone”
